Eligibility requirements
- Hold a valid licence or authorisation from the competent authority in your country
- Have been operating for at least 2 academic years
- Name a focal contact point for the accreditation process
- Have adequate governance, learner records and supporting evidence
SAC does not name specific national licences, because the competent authority differs by country. If you are unsure whether your authorisation qualifies, contact us before registering.
Who can apply
- Universities, colleges and higher education institutions, for institutional accreditation.
- A specific programme of an eligible institution, for programme accreditation. Each scope is a separate application. See institutional vs programme.
K-12 schools and vocational providers
What to prepare
Every institution is different, but a Higher Education application usually draws on documents such as these. Gathering them early is the best way to keep the process within the 3–6 months target.
- Licence or authorisation from the competent authority
- Strategic plan
- Organisation and governance chart
- Curriculum and programme specifications
- Faculty and staff qualifications (CVs, aggregated where possible)
- Teaching and assessment matrix
- Student or learner handbook
- Admission policy
- Quality assurance manual and review evidence
- Partnership or MoU evidence
- Financial statements and budget sustainability
- Audited or assurance reports
- Research and innovation strategy and output evidence
- Graduate or learner outcome data and stakeholder surveys
- Facilities, resources and safety inventory
File requirements and sensitive data
- PDF is preferred. Word, Excel, JPG and PNG files are also accepted.
- Maximum 25 MB per file. For larger files, contact us and we will arrange a secure transfer.
- Do not upload named salary lists or individual health or disability records. Provide anonymised or aggregated data instead.
What happens after you apply
You register an account, complete the self-evaluation and submit evidence. SAC checks the file for completeness, then a panel of three independent assessors reviews it and visits your institution. A separate committee makes the decision. The full seven-step process explains each stage and its indicative duration.
